The EKU Athletic Training Program is excited to welcome Dr. Annette Monk, LAT, ATC as the newest member of the #ekuatpfaculty. Dr. Monk will be serving as the program's Clinical Lab Coordinator and as faculty for both the MS in AT Program and the BS in Exercise and Sport Science: Pre-Athletic Training and Pre-Physical Therapy concentrations. In the fall, her primary areas of teaching will be Care and Prevention of Athletic Injuries (ESS 212), Foundations of Orthopedic Evaluation (ATR 330) and Lower Extremity Evaluation (ATR 812/L). While teaching, completing duties of the Clinical Lab Coordinator, she will be immersed in learning the history and heritage of EKU's ATP, contributing to future directions of the program and improving our student learning experiences!

Dr. Monk comes to EKU with experience teaching in an accredited program at Trinity International University where she served as faculty and program administration for several years and taught many of the classes across the curriculum. In the classroom, she emphasizes the integration of real clinical scenarios into understanding of foundational concepts. While teaching and working clinically through outreach, she completed her DAT from Indiana University in 2020 where she developed an interest in simulation and persued an interest in understanding the perceptions of users of telemedicine. Using her clinical interests and clinical research training, she has directed and collaborated on numerous student clinical research projects.

Prior to her interest in the growth of the next generation of athletic trainers, she pursued her own clinical experiences and interests in the military setting, working with the Naval Special Warfare Preparatory School. She shares a continued love for the military setting with her students and other clinicians equally and incorporates these unique experiences into the classroom routinely.

Please take a moment to reach out to her and welcome her to the #ekuatpfamily!
