EKU Faculty Receives ASSET Fellow Award
EKU faculty member, Dr. Aaron Sciascia, has recently been named an ASSET Fellow by the American Society of Shoulder and Elbow Therapists.
This honor is reserved for “distinguished members that have fully committed themselves to moving the society forward from a service, research, and/or an educational standpoint” according to the ASSET organization. A Fellow must have been an active member of ASSET for at least 10 years, served a minimum of 5 years on a committee or board, attended at least 7 of the last 10 annual meetings, and given presentations at 5 of the last 10 annual meetings. To be selected, the individual must provide letters of recommendation from both an ASSET member and an ASES (American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons) member.
As a Fellow, Dr. Sciascia will have the right and duty to vote, hold an elected office, chair committees, attend all functions of ASSET, and maintain up-to-date contact information in the ASSET office. He will work towards upholding the organization’s values of exemplary patient care and sharing knowledge to promote excellence. ASSET is already a selective group, containing only 114 members, of which only five are currently considered fellows.
ASSET is a group of multidisciplinary professionals working in rehabilitation that come together and focus on providing high-level, quality patient care through critical assessment of information, mentorship, innovative science and clinical research and the sharing of information.
Dr. Sciascia will be recognized as an ASSET Fellow in the award ceremony at the organization’s annual meeting in New York City, NY this coming October. Congrats, Dr. Sciascia!
