Changing of the Guard

Dr. Fuchs, Director of the Athletic Training Program for the last six years, was hired as the Chair for the Department of Exercise and Science at EKU effective July 1, 2016. During his tenure as Program Director, he was instrumental in increasing student enrollment, increasing the clinical experiences of our students, and pre-emptively developing and starting the new MS in AT degree. Though his leadership within the program will be missed, his guidance and support as the chair of our department will be greatly appreciated.

In the wake of his transition, Dr. Matthew Sabin has been appointed as the new Director of the Athletic Training Program. Dr. Sabin has been part of the EKU AT faculty for the last five years. He is in the process of becoming a CAATE site visitor, a member of the SEATA Research and Education Committee, a member of the SEATA Student Quiz Bowl committee and several committees within the University. He is an Associate Professor within the department with a research background in the assessment and management of concussions. His appointment became effective July1, 2016, and he has begun assuming the various roles and responsibilities of the position.
