This year the 55 students from the EKU Athletic Training Program were able to attend the Southeast Athletic Training Association Student Symposium as they celebrated their 30th meeting. With the fundraising help of the programs members as well as President Benson and the athletic department AT program students attended yet another great conference. Jared Estridge, A Rising Senior in AT Program Accepts Professional Baseball Athletic Trainer Society (PBATS) Summer Internship

Jared Estridge a rising senior athletic training student will be spending this summer as a Professional Baseball Athletic Trainer Society (PBATS)  Intern with the Pittsburg Pirates Organization.  Jared will report shortly after completing his finals to the Pittsburg Pirates organization summer training center in Bradenton, FL. PBATS internships are competitive internships that athletic training students from around the country apply for and list there top three teams including major league or minor league clubs.

Greg McMillen an EKU Athletic Training Program Alumni named AFC Assistant Athletic Trainer of the Year

Buffalo Bills Assistant Certified Athletic Trainer Greg McMillen a 1988 EKU Athletic Training Program Alumnus, was named the recipient of the 2013 AFC Tim Davey Assistant Athletic Trainer Award, announced during the 2014 NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis by the Pro Football Athletic Trainers Society. AT Program Director, Dr. Eric J. Fuchs, ATC, EMT invited to back to serve as part of United States Olympic Committee Volunteer Medical Staff

Dr. Fuchs, EKU's AT Program Director will be leaving next week to work as a member of the U.S. Olympic Committee Sports Medicine Volunteer Medical Staff and will be working at the Chula Vista U.S. Olympic Training Center for two weeks March 2-16, 2014.  This will be Dr. Fuchs, third time serving as a U.S. Olympic Committee Sports Medicine Staff Medical Volunteer, his first service was in 2000 where he worked at the U.S. Olympic Training Center (USOTC) at Colorado Springs and was invited back in September of 2012 again serving at the USOTC in Colorado Springs.

Ryan Madaleno will be recognized at the Annual Southeast Athletic Trainers Association Clinical Symposium March 14-16, 2014 at the Crown Plaza Ravinia Hotel, Atlanta, GA. Ryan Madaleno is the son of Jim Madaleno, MS, ATC who is in his eighth year as director of sports medicine at the University of Kentucky and his 16th year as the head athletic trainer for the University of Kentucky football team. Ryan is continuing on in his father's footsteps as he pursues a career in athletic training. This scholarship is awarded to family members of SEATA members.

EKU Athletic Training Major Accepts 2014 NFL Summer Intership with New York Giants

Ryan Madaleno, an athletic training major completing his junior year and who is in his second year of the professional phase of the EKU Athletic Training Program, was offered and accepted a 2014 summer internship with the New York Giants.   Ryan spent this past fall applying to several NFL teams for internships and received an offer from the New York Giants towards the end of the Fall Semester.    Ryan becomes the latest in a long line of EKU athletic training students to be selected for NFL Summer internships.

RICHMOND, Ky. – In the heat of two Texan summers, Bobby Feeback rubbed shoulders with some Cowboys in the fields. The football fields, that is.

Now, after two summer-long, pre-season internships with the team, Feeback, an Eastern Kentucky University senior athletic training major from Cynthiana, has accepted a two-year seasonal position with the Dallas Cowboys.

AT Program May 2013 Graduates Deliver 100% 1st Time Pass Rate on Board of Certification Exam

The EKU Athletic Training (AT) Program May 2013 graduating senior class received the results of their Board of Certification Exam  on May 6, 2013 with 100% of them passing on there first attempt.  Students in the EKU AT program are eligible to take the Board of Certification Exam in April of there final semester.
