EKU ATP Students Rock the NPI Contest

In recent years, NATA has pushed for athletic trainers and students to acquire National Provider Identifiers (NPIs). An NPI is a unique 10-digit ID used in health care transactions that fulfills HIPPA requirements. This number is a requirement to serve on any NATA committee and is mandated by many employers. Having an NPI as an athletic trainer adds credibility to the individual and the athletic training profession as a whole. This further solidifies the athletic trainer's significance in the health care career field - a perfect way to celebrate National Athletic Training Month!
After entering a recent NPI contest in celebration of National Athletic Training Month, 100% of EKU Athletic Training Students will graduate with registered NPI numbers. These students will serve as leaders in the field, as only 35% of current athletic trainers have NPI numbers. We are proud to have such proactive students that have taken an important step in their careers!
