Dr. Sciascia Presents His Second Masters Class of the Year...In India!

EKU Athletic Training Faculty Dr. Sciascia Presents 2-Day Class in India

On August 3, 2018, EKU Athletic Training faculty, Aaron Sciascia, delivered a 1-day Scapula Masterclass to approximately 110 physiotherapists in Pune, India. Dr. Sciascia was invited to deliver this course by Ashish Babhulkar, MD, an orthopedic surgeon in Pune who specializes in the shoulder. “I was honored to be invited to India to deliver this course and the hospitality and welcome I received from Dr Babhulkar, his staff, and the course attendees was remarkable! I can honestly say that in all of my years of presenting and interacting with colleagues about the shoulder and scapula’s relationship to the kinetic chain, Dr Babhulkar is by far the first to not only grasp the concept, but practice it!”.

Dr. Sciascia provided 8 lectures on the function of the scapula, dysfunction of the scapula and its effect on shoulder function, evaluation of the scapula and kinetic chain, and kinetic chain-based rehabilitation.  He also oversaw 2 workshops that allowed the attendees to practice the evaluation techniques and rehabilitation exercises.  Dr Babhulkar and his staff developed the Pune Shoulder Rehabilitation Program (PSRP) for tendinopathy-related conditions which integrates scapular and shoulder exercises along with techniques designed to address the entire kinetic chain.  “The PSRP is both philosophically and practically in-line with kinetic chain shoulder rehabilitation. The information I presented complemented the PSRP design and vice versa”.

This was his second Master's Class of the year and he will continue his international journies in the coming months with a trip to present in Chile!
