Dr. Matthew Sabin, Associate Professor in AT Program Wins ESSC Excellence in Advising Award 2016
Dr. Matthew Sabin, ATC was recognized by the Department of Exercise & Sport Science Excellence with the Advising Award for 2016. This award is voted on by the students in the Department of Exercise and Sport Science. The students select the faculty member who they feel is providing them with the excellence in advising though an advising survey. Advising is more than just picking out classes for the upcoming semester, but involves listening to students to find out what their goals and aspirations are and helping them reach them. Advisors are also there for students when things may not be going as well to provide mentorship and guidance on how to improve their current situation, regardless of whether the concern is an academic course issue, personal issue or other.
Dr. Sabin is a well respected faculty member within the Department of Exercise and Sport Science. Dr. Sabin is a not only an excellent advisor and mentor to the athletic training students, but serves as a great role model for the students he is both educating and advising. Dr. Sabin excels in bringing out the best in his students in the classroom and through advising which the students are very appreciative of, and is acknowledged in the students selection of Dr. Sabin as the Department of Exercise & Sport Science's 2016 Excellence in Advising Award winner.
