Kick-Off Time: National Athletic Training Month Begins Today!

EKU Athletic Training Students Kick Off National Athletic Training Month

Let the celebration begin! Across the country athletic trainers are being honored this month as March is National Athletic Training Month. EKU Athletic Training staff, faculty and students kick off the month in the rain at 5:45am doing what they always do...work to ensure the safety and participation of those under their care.

Support for athletic trainers will occur in many ways over the next 31 days. Some ATs are planning events to highlight the profession, some are working to educate the public about the profession and all continue to serve as we did in the previous 11 months!

The great thing about this profession has nothing to do with the athletic ability of our athletes and patients. It doesn't change based on the level of participation, junior league up to professional settings. It doesn't have to do with the art of the tape job. It all lies in the fact that athletic trainers are the point of care prior to, during and after the injury/pathology. We get the chance to support the healthcare team and the patient from the moment of injury all the way through the rehabilitation process. No other healthcare professional is involved so long, and as integrally, in the return-to-participation process as athletic trainers.

To the lucky few that kick off the month by continuing to work as we have always done, rain or shine, on the field or in the clinic, with healthy athletes or our patients, we salute your efforts and thank you for all you do in the care and management of injuries and pathologies in the multitude of patient populations you treat.
