EKU AT Faculty Attend 2015 NATA Athletic Training Educators Conference and Four EKU AT Students Attend the NATA's iLead Conference in Dallas, TX
Dr. Eric J. Fuchs, ATC, EKU's Athletic Training Program Director, along with Dr. Tracy Spigelman, ATC and Dr. Matthew Sabin, ATC attended the 2015 Athletic Training Educators Conference, which is a premier conference held every two years to provide update on current trends in Athletic Training Education and to provide current research and innovation in athletic training education. This conference allows the EKU AT faculty to bring back best practices and new ideas to keep EKU' s AT Program at the cutting edge of Athletic Training Education.
Concurrently with the ATEC conference is the NATA's iLead Student Leadership Conference, which prepares students to be future leaders in the profession of Athletic Training. BreAnna Hankins, Senior AT Student along with first year professional phase students, Shelby Davis, Melissa Bellamy, and Samantha Styer all attend the iLead conference held in Dallas, TX.
There was a lot of information provided that as faculty we can take back to improve and integrate into our AT Program at EKU. The students learned how they can be come involved now in the profession and as young professionals. Students learned the importance of networking and techniques that can be used to increase there network. While the AT Faculty and students where hoping for a warm escape form the snow and cold in Richmond, KY, we were welcomed to Dallas, TX with a snowstorm and ice, which allowed us to focus on our conference and not be distracted.
Additionally, the faculty and students were able to get a tour of the NFL's Dallas Cowboy's Training Facility thanks to EKU AT Program Alum Bobby Feeback, ATC who is the current seasonal intern with the Dallas Cowboys.
