Dr. Tracy Spigelman, ATC Clinical Coordinator for EKU Athletic Training Program & 17 Athletic Training Students Provide Coverage for the 2015 Blugrass Half-Marathon
The EKU Athletic Training Program looks for quality experiences for our athletic training students to be able to learn and implement there clinical skills while engaging the community in which they live. Experiences like these allow for our AT students to add to there resume showing experience beyond there required clinical education in the program. Dr. Spigelman who serves as the EKU AT Program clinical coordinator worked with The Bluegrass Half-Marathon staff to provide a great opportunity for our AT students learn event coverage and triage for large race events. Athletic trainers commonly provide care as part of a comprehensive sports medicine team at races and tri-athalons and other community events, this provided an opportunity not only for our EKU Athletic Training Students to gain clinical experience but also to give back to the community. Students got to see what it takes to set-up and provide medical services at a large race event through this experience.
